Daniel Ruiz Tizon is Available Ep 127 - Euro Special 2

Ahead of Monday's Daniel Ruiz Tizon is Available, where I continue to look at my largely non-football related memories of the ten Euro tournaments I remember, I'd like to hear your own memories of where you were in your life at the time of these tournaments.

Do get in touch: drtavailable

The first Euro special can be found here drtisavpodcast/ep126

It started with Sabotage Times

Thank you those of you who have shared or retweeted links to my new eBook, Me! Me! Me! As always, your support is much appreciated.

Spanning missives written across five years, Me! Me! Me! was borne out of a series of enjoyable columns I wrote for James Brown's Sabotage Times when it launched in the spring of 2010. Matt Weiner, my old commissioning editor from Four Four Two during my days as a freelance football journalist had contacted me asking me if I would be interested in writing for the site. By then, my comedy work was being commissioned by a number of television broadcasters and Matt suggested I should write pieces similar to some of the more off-beat interviews I'd done with the likes of Alan Hansen, Les Ferdinand and Terry Venables back in the day for Four Four Two. I was less sure than Matt that I could do so successfully, but encouraged by him, I wrote quite a few pieces for Sabotage Times that spring and summer and the type of work I was turning out persauded me to move into podcasting and stand up within months. Writing for Sabotage Times took my work off in a completely different direction.

A few of those early Sabotage Times pieces are reworked here in Me! Me! Me!, much the same way James Brown (the singer) would rework his own material so that it could be argued there is no any one definitive version of his great songs.

And Me! Me! Me! is available on Amazon for £1.99. goo.gl/QXTEOP

Please do rate and review it on there.

Daniel Ruiz Tizon is Available - Get in touch ahead of Ep 117

On this week's Daniel Ruiz Tizon is Available podcast, I'm looking at:

The housing crisis - how is it affecting you?

The problem with bringing up children in the suburbs if you don't drive.

Bedside table videos - send in your bedside table videos.

And back pain. Do you suffer from it? If so, how do you deal with?

Get in touch with the show on these subjects or anything else ahead of tomorrow's recording via drtavailable@westegg1607.co.uk

Bedside table - send in your videos

Coming up to six years ago, I used to run a surprisingly popular feature on my first ever website called Bedside Table in which listeners to my early podcasts would send in videos together with commentaries of their bedside tables, allowing us all to see what they keep by their beds. Some bedside tables were cluttered, others were uncluttered. But all the videos were interesting. I've long been interested in reviving this feature.

If you'd like to show viewers of my site what you keep by your bed, send your bedside video to me, including your social media details if applicable, at drtavailable@westegg1607.co.uk

Videos will be posted on the site late at night.

Daniel Ruiz Tizon is Available - Bumper Christmas Annual 2015 Podcast

From Sunday 20th December through to Christmas Eve, you can download a festive podcast each day from this site or iTunes as I'm joined by guests, some of whom are into Christmas, some of whom are not. I'll be joined by the bald, the broad backed, the big gunned American, the formerly broken, the green fingered and a few others too.

You'll hear how the 1982 Argos catalogue effectively killed the Christmas Annual in the UK. There'll be this year's Channel Christmas listings, the odd carol singing and I'll be speaking to an organisation helping those for whom Christmas will be a tough time.

If you'd like to contribute your festive thoughts to the show, drop an email to drtavailable@westegg1607.co.uk

One half of Gavin and Gavin on tonight's Daniel Ruiz Tizon is Available

As the show edges closer to the end of its third series, I'm joined lived in the studio tonight by writer-performer Sharon Gavin, one half of comedy duo Gavin and Gavin.

Their latest stage play When the S*it hits the Fan stormed Edinburgh this summer and Sharon will be in to discuss how she and her sister mined a very difficult period in her lives for the show.

Listen live on Resonance 104.4FM at 10pm or download the podcast overnight, which this week will feature bonus material.

This week our little known host discusses his early morning swimming travails, considers the hierarchy of festive nuts and is momentarily thrown by ‘new’ lights in the SW8 skyline.

What's your favoured choice of festive nut?

Is it the walnut? Or perhaps it's the hazlenut? Or are you more of a Brazil nut connoiseur? Surely not the Almond?

Andy's Barbershop - Landor Road SW9

At the end of the year, Andy, the local barber, will finally retire after 50 years of cutting hair from the same barbershop on Landor Road, Clapham North, where I grew up. Every guy I knew back in the day in my neighbourhood, father and son, regardless of ethnicity, had their cut by Andy.

Next week, I will be recording a Daniel Ruiz Tizon is Available podcast only special with Andy, looking at his fifty years in the area. His recollections from that time, how the area has changed, his memories of customers now long gone and the rise of specialist barbershops that were just not around for certainly the first three decades of Andy's time cutting the hair of SW9 and beyond. His departure is likely to be the biggest individual loss to the area since Harry Jacobs legendary photographic studio closed in the early noughties.

If you ever had your hair cut by Andy and you would like to share your memories of that on the show, or if you'd like to ask him a question, do get in touch.
